About

Jordan Springs Elementary School was founded in 2020 and is Frederick County’s twelfth elementary school. Taking two years to build, the 82,300 square foot building accommodates over 500 students. The school mascot is the wolves and the school colors are navy blue and light teal.

Justin Raymond, former principal of Apple Pie Ridge Elementary School, is Jordan Springs’ first principal. Mr. Raymond is student-focused and understands the importance of building relationships with students, parents and teachers in order to help students reach their full potential.

Mr. Raymond’s vision for Jordan Springs is a school that is very collaborative in nature, with many project-based learning opportunities. Collaborative learning spaces are part of the new school’s design. Collaborative work helps students grow because they are more willing to take risks.

Mr. Hopple has served Jordan Springs as Assistant Principal since July of 2022.  Prior to that, Mr. Hopple spent 15 years serving students in Warren County, Virginia.  He started his career as a fifth grade teacher and then moved to middle school where he taught mathematics.  After 10 years of being in the classroom, Mr. Hopple transitioned to administration as the Dean of Students and helped open Warren County Middle School.  He then served as an elementary school assistant principal and a high school assistant principal before coming to Jordan Springs.

Mr. Hopple truly enjoys working with the students, teachers and the entire school community to cultivate an environment where all students can reach their full potential.

Jordan Springs derives its name from the sulphur springs in the area that were owned by the Jordan family for about a century from the early 1800s to 1900s. The springs were known for their healing properties by many groups – Catawba Native Americans, Confederate and Union soldiers, and even members of the monastery once in the area.
